Jacquelyn Hilburn

October 23, 1982 — February 2, 2021

Dublin

Jacquelyn Garner Hilburn, 38, of Tar Heel went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 2, 2021. She is survived by her husband, Sammy Hilburn and daughter, Taylor Nicole Hilburn of the home; parents Randy and Sandra Garner of Dublin; two brothers, Carl Barnes of Staley, NC and Randy Garner, Jr. (Amanda) of Dublin; three sisters, Audrea Brisson of Dublin, Carlisa Craft (Todd) of Keller, TX, and Tracey Barnes of Crossville, TN; seven nieces, nine nephews, four great nephews, and one great niece. Jacquelyn is preceded in death by her grandparents Millard and Beulah Pait of Abbottsburg, NC and Edward and Margaret Garner of Dublin, NC; two brothers-in-law, Jeffrey Brisson and Richard Woodard, and one niece, Bailey.

Born and raised in Dublin, NC, Jacquelyn is the 1987 Bladen County Little Miss and a 2001 graduate of Tar Heel High School. She began serving Bladen County as a receptionist for the Department of Social Services in 2003. A hardworking and dependable servant she soon rose to the ranks of Supervisor. Jacquelyn loved her co-workers and the people of Bladen County dearly. She is described as very personable, with always an open door and a helping hand in any situation.

The baby of the family, she sparked pure joy lighting up the room at every family gathering. While she may have been last to supper, she was always first to help anyone in need. She was a wonderful mentor to her nieces and nephews and always their biggest fan in the stands. Her nieces and nephews describe her as the “fun Aunt” always there to capture treasured moments. She always had a shoulder to cry on and could put a smile on anybody’s face.

Friends describe Jacquelyn as having a selfless heart, always smiling, easy to love, and a joy to be around.

Jacquelyn married the love of her life in 2005. A loving wife and doting mother, it was clear to anyone she met that family was her greatest treasure-her daughter, Taylor, is her pride and joy.

Jacquelyn was taken from us so soon, but we know there is a purpose in God’s perfect plan and that she was welcomed back into His presence with open arms. We are sad only for ourselves-we find great comfort in knowing she is in a better place and that we will one day see her again.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the Allen Cemetery, Bethel Church Rd, Dublin, NC. Rev. Warren Hill will be officiating the service. All attendees are respectfully asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.
