James Autry

James Bradley Autry, age 78 of Hampstead, NC passed away on July 26, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents: James and Mildred Autry, first wife: Shirlee "Tim" Autry, an infant brother as well as brothers Johnny and Milton Autry, two daughters: Lesa Alkins, Patty Beckworth, stepson: Paul Wayne Dezern, two grandsons: Justin Autry, Timothy Beckworth and one great grandchild: Brelynn. James leaves behind wife Anice Pierce Autry, four sons: Russell Autry (Mildred) of Kernerville, Christopher Autry (Kim) of Virginia; Johnny Dezern of Hampstead; and Jason Duncan of Wilmington; one daughter: Sharon Brown (Russ) of Apex; one brother: Earl Kaye Autry of Bladenboro; two sisters: Bernice Messick (George) of Clarkton; Melba Jean Autry of Tennessee; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

James was better known to his friends and family as "Cowboy" or "Telephone." He loved his family dearly and was always looking out for their best interest. A real family man who was always quoting this statement: "There are four things you don't mess with: My wife, my children, my dogs and my boats or trucks." James was noted as being the best floor sander in N.C. Everyone loved him dearly and he will be deeply missed.

The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:15 on Monday, July 30th at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown followed by a graveside service at 2:30 pm officiated by Rev. Brian Griffith.
