James Collins

January 23, 1952 — December 3, 2020

Council

James Randall Collins, 68, of Council went to his eternal happy place on Thursday, December 3, 2020. He was reunited with those who made it there before him, his parents, James W. Collins and Carolyn Sasser Collins, his dear wife, Jill Collins, his beloved son, Jamie Collins, and two cherished brothers, Lynn Collins and Glenn Collins. Randall leaves to cherish his memory, two sons, Chad Collins and wife Summer of Bluefield and David Donaldson of Rocky Point, one daughter, Tiffany Collins Pait and husband Grant, also of Bluefield, five grandsons, Darren Collins, Nicholas Collins, Evan Pait, Cameron Collins, and Ethan Collins, and two great grandchildren, Braylen “Willie” Collins and Jayden Sanders.

Randall was a man among men. He loved the Lord, his family, his community, and people in general. He served as Fireman Captain of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years and worked at Veeder Root and Danaher for 39 years. A devoted, lifelong member of Bluefield Methodist Church. It has been said that “To hear him sing in church was like a sweet incense to our ears” and “If he’s not at home, he’s probably at Bluefield”. He was always a man ready to serve, whether mowing the church yard, singing in the choir, sending up prayers or anything the church needed done. He was an outdoorsman, loved the land. Fishing, hunting, and farming were the things he enjoyed doing and teaching to every family member, young and old.  Randall was a man who appeared rough and tough on the outside, but he had a heart of gold. The example of what a man should be, honorable, loving, just and right. He has left a lifetime of great treasured memories to everyone in his family and to each person whose life he impacted in some special way. As he is having the reunion of a lifetime, his loved ones can look forward to that same great reunion with him one day.
