James Junior Prevatte, of Evergreen passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 23, 2023, at the age of 80. He was born in Robeson County on April 19, 1942, the son of Howard Prevatte and Annie Mae Jernigan Prevatte. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Bobby Prevatte, one sister, Shirley Parker, and one grandson, Ethan Prevatte.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years, Kay Kinlaw Prevatte of the home, three children, Steve Prevatte of Evergreen, Linda Watson (Randy) of Elizabethtown, and Randy Prevatte of Bladenboro, four grandchildren Aspen Batton (Tyler Batton), Hunter Prevatte, Madison Watson, and Noah Watson, three great grandchildren Hunter Batton, Cayson Batton and Houston Prevatte, and two sisters, Polly Prevatte of Whiteville and Sue Nance of Evergreen.
James was a simple, loving family man. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, Kay, his children, and grandchildren. James was a talker by nature especially when it came to chatting about old cars and trucks. His favorite by far was the Chevrolet S10 truck. He loved the spring and summer months when he could just pull up an old block of wood and sit in front of his workshop to wave and talk with anyone who came by. His warm sense of humor and his genuine love of folks will never be forgotten.
Per James wishes, there will be no services held at this time.
