James Timothy "Tim" Tart

James “Tim” Timothy Tart, 78, passed away on January 17, 2024, at his home. Tim was a Vietnam Veteran of the 82^nd Airborne Division of Fort Bragg and a Bronze Medal Recipient. He was born and raised in Bladen County, the son of the late Wade Garland Tart and Lanie Inman Tart.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Gerald Tart. Left to cherish his memory are wife, Judy D. Tart of the home, daughters Melissa Hood (Tony) of Clarkton, and Melody Tart of Clarkton, two brothers, Fred Tart (Cathy) of Matthews, Ronnie Tart (Mary) of Elizabethtown, three sisters, Patsy Priest of Lisbon, Jane Ward of Whiteville, and Carol Tart (Tony Hyatt) of Tar Heel, four grandchildren Nathan Hood (Hali), Nicholas Hood (Timber), Marlee Cribb (Bryan Wilkins), and Nolan Cribb and one great grandchild, Sawyer.

Tim was the current Mayor of the Town of Clarkton. Besides his love for his family, the love of his town was the center of his life. Tim had a passion to see his community expand and he was an entrepreneur for sure. His goal was always to do what was best for the citizens of Clarkton and for his family. The apple of his eye was his grandchildren. He always supported their sports events and never missed a game. He was always sneaking a hundred-dollar bill to one of the grandchildren that hit a home run. He enjoyed spoiling them every chance he got. Tim’s other love was Drag Racing especially when he was a young man. He enjoyed life to the fullest. His dedication, hard work, sense of humor and deep love for his family will never be forgotten.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm on Friday, January 19, 2024, at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Clarkton Presbyterian Church in Clarkton with the Reverend Barrett Ingram officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Clarkton Cemetery.
