Jamie Rae Poythress, 30, of Fayetteville went to her eternal home on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. She left to join those gone on before, her mother Mary Lee Powers, niece Shelly Elliott, cousin Jason Swett and uncle Russell Campbell. Jamie leaves behind her father, Jeff Campbell (Dawn) of White Oak; her loving husband Raymond Poythress and her son, Malikye Poythress of the home, maternal grandmother, Shelby Hicks, paternal grandmother Lucille Campbell, grandparents, Lawrence and Ruth Feight; three sisters: Andrea Powers of Fayetteville; Amanda Meares (Aaron) of Lumberton; and Marianne Long of Asheboro. She also leaves a special friend Rachel Smith.
Jamie was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She proudly served seven years in the Army National Guard. She spent the last several years battling with cancer and she did it with such resilience. During this tough time, Jamie graduated from Fayetteville Community College with a 4.0 GPA as a Dental Assistant. She went on to work at the ECU School of Dentistry where her coworkers were not only her friends but her extended family. She never let cancer break her. She continued to strive to live her life to the fullest. Her friends and family always by her side rooting her on. Her tenacity and strength will continue to be remembered by all that knew and loved her.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 am at the Fayetteville Community Church officiated by Rev. Walter Hayes.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the funeral fund of Jamie Poythress c/o Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home, P.O. Box 3150, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
