Janice Johnson

February 24, 1940 — December 1, 2017

Janice Parnell Johnson, 77, of Elizabethtown went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 1, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents Elmer and Vada Parnell, husband Dennis Ervin Johnson and sister Josephine Lee. Janice is survived by one son Dale Johnson of Elizabethtown, one daughter Becky Brantley and husband David of Rocky Mount; one brother Carsie Davis Jr. and wife Carol of Bladenboro and four grandchildren: Emilee and Olivia Johnson, both of Bladenboro; Allison Hax and husband Anthony of Raleigh; and Melissa Brantley of Rocky Mount.

Janice loved the word of God, her family; especially her grandchildren and her church. She enjoyed working with children, taught Sunday School for over 40 years and served as the daycare director at Wesleys Chapel United Methodist Church Open Arms After School Ministry. Janice also enjoyed collecting angels and at one time had more than a 100 of them. She had a desire to go home with the Lord and now she is at peace. The love that she so freely gave will be cherished in the hearts of all those she touched during her time here on earth.

A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church in Elizabethtown officiated by Rev. Darrell Copeland. The family will receive friends following the service in the church multipurpose building. Burial will take place at a later date in the Johnson Family Cemetery.
