Janie Strickland Allen

Janie Strickland Allen, 75, of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2024 while at home surrounded by her family. She was born on January 23, 1949 in Wilson, North Carolina. 

She married the love of her life, Roy Allen, LTC Col US Army Retired and shared 55 wonderful years in marriage. Janie was an exemplary Army and JROTC wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  Together she and Roy raised their family in Bladen County where she taught in the Bladen County School System until her retirement. Janie loved education and always had a true servant's heart. Her home and her table were always open to share love, food and fellowship. The legacy of learning, laughter, and compassion will forever live on in the hearts of all that know and love her.

Janie was preceded in death by her parents, Reverend Robert Lewis Strickland and Dorothy Snipes Strickland, her in-laws Roy J. Allen Sr. and Virginia B. Allen, brother-in-law Herbert E. Ellis and nephew Stephen Pittman. Left to cherish her beautiful memories are her beloved husband, Roy Allen, sons, Roy J. Allen III (Patti), Robert C. Allen, daughter Kellye Hales (Jason), sisters Vivian Leigh Ellis and Cathy Luanne Malin (Tom), 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. 

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 4, 2024 at Foundation Church in Elizabethtown with the Reverend Jason Williams and Reverend Brandon Meadows officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
