Jeanette Savage

Jeanette Collier Savage, 86, of Council, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January, 14, 2022.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Collier and Addie Calhoun Collier, her husband, Robert Roger Savage, Jr., one brother, James Arthur Collier , and three sisters: Beulah Guyton, Mary John Huggins, and Thelma Roberson. Jeanette leaves behind one son, Robert Savage III and wife Suzanne of Lisbon, daughter Katherine Britt and husband Rudy of Elizabethtown, four grandchildren: Julie Britt Sasser and husband Stanley, Clark Britt and wife Cassie, Collier Savage, and Virginia Savage and five great grandchildren: Britt Sasser, Mollie Sasser, Ryker Britt, Rhett Britt and Brock Britt. She is also survived by two sisters, Hazel Wallace (William) of Morehead City and Dorothy Smith (Robert) of Cary NC.

Jeanette was born on February 27, 1935 in Bladen County. She graduated from Elizabethtown High School. She worked in banking her entire career working for several banks in Elizabethtown before retiring in 1998 from Bank of America. She and Robert enjoyed spending their free time in Holden Beach. Jeanette loved her family and cooking for them. Her caramel cake and fried chicken were favorites and often requested. Her smile, the sparkle in her eyes and her laugh will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

The family will recieve friends from 6-8pm on Monday, January 17th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 11am on Tuesday, January 18th at Lisbon Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Creech and Rev. Warren Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Council.  Wearing a mask at these services is recommended by the family.
