Jeff Allen

February 4, 1954 — September 9, 2021

Tar Heel

Daniel Jefferson “Jeff” Allen, 67, of Tar Heel passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gurney Fletcher Allen Sr. and Doris Beard Allen; brothers: Fletcher and Mark Allen.

Jeff leaves behind his wife and best friend of 47 years, Teresa C. Allen of the home; son: Daniel Jefferson Allen, Jr. of Bladenboro; daughter, Renee Cunningham and husband Daniel of Mooresville; sister, Jill Allen of Sunset Beach, NC; two sister-in-laws: Teal Allen and Pegi Allen, both of Tar Heel; two grandchildren: Sarah Michelle Allen and Elijah Cunningham and several nieces and nephews.

Jeff loved his family more than anything. If any of the kids needed advice, help, or just to talk, all they had to do was call "daddy" or "pappy". Jeff made sure his family knew they were loved and thought of with his daily good morning texts, each unique to the family member with their nickname added. He ensured his family was taken care of by obtaining his MBA from Oklahoma University and pursuing commercial appraising for 20+ years. Jeff inspired his daughter Lucrecia (Renee) with his career choice and she has been following in his footsteps for 18 years.

Before going to be with his parents and brothers, Jeff spent 47 loving, happy, fun-filled years with his best friend and soulmate Teresa. After meeting at church, the high school sweethearts were inseparable. They built a beautiful life and family together, complete with 2 kids and 2 grandkids. Jeff Jr. and Renee had an enjoyable childhood and were able to travel young and see the country. Jeff enjoyed cooking and gardening, especially with vegetables from his garden. His love of reading was apparent to all that saw his bookshelves, but this passion was passed down to his son Jeff. Jr. Jeffrey always loved bringing his dad new books to read and enjoy. His love and passion for his family were tantamount to all else in his life but his passion for the "Sport of Kings" was a close second. Many hours a day were spent in the pursuit of gamefowl.

None of the family was as spoiled by Jeff as the only granddaughter, Sarah. Jeff enjoyed teaching her to sing, how to read, and how to do mathematics. He also enjoyed teaching his grandson Elijah how to shoot a .22 and drive a tractor.

He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and church family.

The family will receive friends from 6-8pm on Monday, September 13th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 3:30pm on Tuesday, September 14th at Tar Heel Baptist Church with burial following in church cemetery.
