Jeffrey Cushing

Jeffrey David Cushing, age 61 of Lumberton, died Tuesday, January 6, 2015. He is predeceased by an infant daughter, Lisa Lauren Cushing; and his parents, Andrew and Etta Jones Cushing. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Meares of the home; son, David Cushing of Wilmington, step-sons, Ashley Bryan of Ocean Isle and Corey Bryan of Fayetteville; a daughter, Amanda Cushing of Lumberton; and a brother Andrew Cushing of Virginia.

He was instrumental in founding Robeson Road Runners and Lumberton Track Club. While attending UNC- Pembroke, he was an All American as a 1000 yard runner. He was inducted into the UNCP Hall of Fame in 2009. He was a former coach and teacher at Lumberton Jr. High and Lumberton High school. Jeffrey was the former owner of Sports Relay and the current owner of Carolina Play Structures.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home Chapel at 4:30 p.m.
