Jerry Melvin Franklin, 84, Army Veteran of Bladenboro formerly of Midland, MI passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Linda O’Keefe Franklin of the home, two sons, Steven Franklin (Lisa) of New York; Timothy “Tim” Franklin (Annette) of Vermont; two daughters, Jill Pait (Barry) of Bladenboro; Stephanie Bauer (Bill) of Indian Trails, NC; one sister Nancy Johnston of Michigan and 12 grandchildren: Adam, Bethany, Elliott, Skylar, Emma, Gedeline, Morgan, Levy, Erin, Ian, Steven Jr. and Lauren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Franklin and Helen Coy Franklin and his sister Judy.
Jerry was a man after God’s own heart. He loved the Lord and his family with everything he had. Spent time in God’s word daily and lived a shining example to not only his family but to his community. He was slow to anger and would rather pray for an individual than to have cross words. His children learned through their father’s actions which spoke volume about his character. A servant by nature, Jerry worked at his local church and served as a missionary. If you were Jerry’s friend you knew it, he would give anything to anyone and rarely met a stranger. He was an avid game player, loved to travel and loved his animals. He also loved spending time playing games, telling stories, and making popcorn with his grandchildren. A devoted, hardworking, and gentle man that has left a legacy that will be treasured by all.
