Jimmie Floyd Priest Sr., 83, of Lumberton went home to be with the Lord on April 23, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert Priest and Lina Seals Priest, brothers: BG and Charles, sisters: Lillie Bell, Louise, Willie Ann and Elaine. Jimmie leaves behind his loving wife, Ruth Priest, of the home; two sons: J. Floyd (Tammy) of Bladenboro; Timmie Priest (Teresa) also of Bladenboro; one daughter: Kelli Burney (Mike) of Dunn; five grandchildren: Adrienne, Jonathan, Destinee, Austin, and Landon; four great grandchildren: Mason, Kayden, Kayleigh, and Trevor and several other children grown and small that referred to him as “Papa”.
Jimmie was a God fearing, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a devoted family man, always supportive and in attendance to any activity his children were involved with. Jimmie had a heart for little children. They could make him smile even at his weakest moments of sickness. He was involved in various church activities even from the age of 5 when he began singing in church. Some of the offices he served in over the years were church clerk, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Children’s Church Leader, Youth Camp Leader and Associate Pastor. He was a compassionate, devoted man who was willing to serve. Jimmie was a diehard Carolina fan and enjoyed a “Johnny’s hotdog” every chance he got.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 pm on Friday, April 26 at East Lumberton Church of God followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm officiated by Rev. Bruce Brumfield. Burial will follow the services in the Brown Marsh Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Clarkton.
