Joan Simmons

Joan Powers Simmons, 83, of Clarkton entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 24, 2011, at the Elizabethtown Nursing Facility.



She is predeceased by her husband, C.F. Simmons; her parents, John Fulton Powers and Annie Thompson Powers; three brothers: Tommy, Norwood, and David Powers; and one sister, Pauline Spencer.



She is survived by a daughter Deborah Heustess of Clarkton; a son, Michael Simmons of Columbia, SC; a sister, Alice Gray Boone of West Columbia SC; three grandchildren: Chuck Heustess, Jody Heustess, and Candice Turbeville; five great-grandchildren: Miller, Greyson, and AnnaGrey Heustess, Emma Turbeville and Charley Heustess.



The family will receive friends on Monday, September 26, from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. The services will be Tuesday, September 27, at Clarkton First Baptist Church at 1:30 PM with Rev. Steuart Link, Rev. Mark Miller and Keith Croom officiating. Burial will follow in Clarkton Cemetery.
