Joann Evans Herring

Joann Evans Herring, 88, of Elizabethtown passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 while at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC. She was born in Bladen County on May 17, 1936 the daughter of the late John Haywood Evans and Elzora West Evans.

 Joann was a daddy’s girl with a compassionate heart. Her fondest memories were times during her childhood and adventures with her daddy. She often shared those stories with her family and friends. Joann enjoyed things that brought family together, things like cooking and fishing just to name a few. She loved eating oysters and fish in the Fall and harvesting the garden in the Spring. She was known for her love of people and enjoyed taking the time to sit with folks especially those who could not get out and about often. Her big heart and generosity will always be remembered by those who know and love her.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Harley G. Herring. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Gary Herring (Jeanette) of Fayetteville and Terry Herring (Wanda) of Tar Heel, brother Mike Evans of Garland, sister Sandra Stuckey (Jerry) of South Carolina and her granddaughter, Lyndsey Powers (Micah).

 The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at the Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home with the Reverend Warren Hill officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Fayetteville.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Judson Baptist Church in Cedar Creek, 505 Judson Church Road, Fayetteville, NC 28312.
