John Charles Callihan, 64, of Decatur,formerly of Bladenboro passed away Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
John was born June 10, 1954 in Pensacola, Florida, the son of Harold Stacy and Francis Jane (Thompson) Callihan. He married Valerie Curry on April 17, 1999, at Scovill Zoo in Decatur. She survives.
Also surviving are their two sons, Zach McCulley of Decatur and Tom (Paige Higgens) Martz of Indianola, Iowa; a daughter, Roxanne Callihan of Marshall, Illinois; a grandchild, Isreal “Izzy” Wilkins; a friend loved as a sister, Beth Smith of Bladenboro, North Carolina; and his beloved cats, Princess Punkin and Baby Princess. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harold Stacy Callihan, Jr.
John was an industrial fitter welder for many years. He was a licensed pilot and inspector. He had a passion for airplanes and trains. He loved to build model airplanes from WWII, and always enjoyed a good joke. He was very proud of his daughter at Indiana State University for pursuing her career as a pharmacist.
Honoring John Callihan’s wishes cremation services will be provided by Moran & Goebel Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 2801 N. Monroe St. Decatur, IL. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at Hickory Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bladenboro. A luncheon will follow the service at 12:30 pm at Galeed Baptist Church CLC Building in Bladenboro.
