John Raynor

April 9, 1927 — January 9, 2017

John Floyd Raynor, 89, of Elizabethtown passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 to join his beloved Jewel Parker Raynor, who passed away in 1993. He was an inspiration and role model to his family, friends and the boys he led as director of Royal Rangers for more than 25 years. He was a devoted member of Dublin Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church for 42 years. Mr. Raynor worked as an electrician all of his adult life. His son Mark says, "He was the best electrician that God allowed to handle a pair of wire strippers." The memories created and love shared will long live on in those who knew him.

He is survived by three sons: Mark Raynor and wife Meda of Fredericksburg, VA; Phillip Raynor and wife Donna of Orlando, FL; and Bruce Raynor of Newborn, GA; two brothers: Roscoe Raynor and wife Kitty Rose of Dublin and Edward Raynor and wife Joann of Newborn, GA; three sisters: Lib Guthrie and husband Richard of Burlington; Shelby Warwick and husband Lynn of Tar Heel and Frances Gonda of Bladenboro; seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2-3pm on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown followed by a funeral service at 3 pm with Rev. Joe Foster officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Raynor Cemetery in Elizabethtown.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to his church, Dublin Pentecostal FW Baptist.
