John Clark

July 7, 1918 — July 20, 2008

Mr. John W. Clark, 90, of Elizabethtown, entered into eternal rest July 20, 2008.



John Wesley Clark, a retired Bladen County businessman, died Sunday night at his home at the age of 90. He was the son of Will and Mattie Clark of Clarkton, NC. He attended Clarkton High School and began to farm for his parents at an early age. He served his country in the Air Force in France, England and Africa during WWII. Afterward he returned to Bladen County to work at Clark Motor Company. He then began a small business in logging and later returned to farming. In the late 60's he formed a partnership with his late sister, Colonel Mildred Irene Clark and his late brother, Vance Clark, and they took over Clark Tractor and Equipment Company, the business that was founded by his brother, the late George Ellis Clark. He and the business retired in 1988.



Mr. Clark was preceded in death by his parents, William \\"Will\\" James Clark and Martha Guyton Clark, two sisters, Mary Lucille Clark Anderson, Mildred Irene Clark Woodman, and two brothers, George Ellis Clark and William Vance Clark.



He is survived by his wife, Emmy Dell Cain Clark, of the home, two sons Johnny Clark of Bealeton, VA, Andy Clark and wife, Debby of Elizabethtown and two grandchildren, Wesley Clark and Andrew Clark both of Elizabethtown.



Visitation will be July 22, 2008, from 6:00 until 8:00pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home.



The funeral will be July 23, 2008, at Elizabethtown Baptist Church at 2:00pm with Rev. Gray Clark and Dr. Earl Farthing officiating. Burial will follow in the Bladen Memorial Gardens.



In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Lower Cape Fear Hospice 400 Mercer Mill Road, Elizabethtown, and NC 28337.
