John Douglas Collins, 63, of Bladenboro passed away May 22, 2012. Mr. Collins served in the Army and was a POW (prisoner of war).He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge AF@302, Lillington, a member of the Sudan Shriners Ghost Buster Team and the Bladen County Shrine Club.



He is survived by his wife, Barbara J. Hilburn Collins of the home; a daughter, Heather Anderson of Lillington; one step-daughter, Toni Lawrence of Carterville, IL; two step-sons, David Childress and Guy Childress, both of Bladenboro; two brothers, Dwayne Collins of Four Oaks and Robert Collins of Lillington; two sister, Becky Mason of Angier and Cornella Collins of Lillington; one grandchild, Tyler; three step-grandchildren, Marinda Riecan, Erica Childress and Brianna Childress; and three great step-grandchildren, Hillary Riecan, Laney Riecan and Cadence Riecan.



He is predeceased by his parents, John H. Collins and Mavis Lee Collins.



A memorial service honoring his life will be held Wednesday, May 30, at 2:00 PM at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Cameron McGill officiating. Visitation will be after the memorial service; and other times at the home: 8385 NC Hwy 131, Bladenboro, NC.
