Joseph "Clayton" Stubbs, 76, of Bladenboro entered into eternal rest Thursday, August 2, 2007 at Sunbridge Nursing Center.
Mr. Stubbs was born in Bladen County to Joseph William and Josephine Singletary Stubbs.
He served in the United States Marine Corps for two years. While serving, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. After serving in the Marine Corps, Mr. Stubbs worked as a supervisor at the Bladenboro Cotton Mill until he retired in 1996.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Josephine Stubbs; two brothers, Garland Stubbs and Stanley Stubbs; and two sisters, Ora Edwards and Myra Stubbs.
Mr. Stubbs is survived by his wife, Laura Wright Stubbs of the home; three nieces, Patsy Stubbs Parker, and husband, Jimmy, Saundra Louise Stubbs all of Wilmington, and Nancy Hollingsworth and husband, Bruce, of Hampstead; two nephews, Tommy Edwards, and wife, Renee, of Davidson and Kenneth Stubbs of Bladenboro; sister-in-law, Wilma Stubbs of Bladenboro, a step-granddaughter, Angela Wells, and a step great-grandson, Ethan Evans.
A visitation is planned for Saturday, August 4, 2007 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at West Bladenboro Baptist Church. The funeral will be Sunday, August 5, 2007 at 3:00 PM at West Bladenboro Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Smith and Rev. Boyd Britt officiating. Burial will follow the service in Lewis Cemetery, Bladenboro.
