Jurdie “JV” Velton Butler Jr., of Dublin went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 18, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jurdie Velton Butler Sr. and Mildred Memory Butler and one son, Richard Wayne Butler. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years, Pauline Smith Butler of the home; one son, Andy Butler (Deanna) of Bladenboro; one daughter, Natalie Butler of Bladenboro; three sisters of Dublin: Laura Blount, Jewel Skinner, and Claudette Smith, and one sister of Elizabethtown, Ruby McDuffie (Fletcher), two grandchildren, Justin Butler of Dublin and Tabitha Dowless of Lumberton, and three great grandchildren: Jason Dowless, Ryan Dowless, and Alyssa Dowless.
J.V. was a faithful, devoted family man who loved the Lord and his family with his whole heart. He spent his Saturdays making sure his vehicles were clean and he spent his Sundays at his home church, Bethel Baptist, praising his Lord and Savior. His family loved to hear him say the blessing over the dinner table. His words were always a beautiful tribute. JV also adored his canine friend; he was his forever pal. He loved going to Walmart just to people watch and enjoyed watching wrestling on tv. He was loved by so many and will continue to live on in their hearts for eternity.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Hill officiating. The family will receive friends before the service at 1:00 pm in the sanctuary. Burial will follow the services in the Allen Cemetery.
