Katherine Johnson

Katherine Dearing Johnson, 88 died on February 18, 2012 in the Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Bladen County. Born on October 11, 1923 in the Hickory Grove Baptist Church Community, Center Road, Bladen County. She was the oldest child of her late parents Henry Lawrence Johnson and Johnnie Singletary Johnson of Cabbage Road. She was preceded in death by her brother Lawrence Patrick (Pat) Johnson.



She is survived by Pat\\'s widow Allene Britt Johnson and a brother Lynn Johnson and wife Lola Dove Johnson all of Cabbage Road. Her surviving sisters are Mary Paul Johnson Kern and husband Robert Kern of Little River, SC and Betsy Johnson Reep and husband Jake Reep of Huntsville, AL.



Katherine leaves numerous nephews and nieces and many friends in the Hickory Grove Baptist Church where she was an active life-long member.



Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. before the service on Monday, February 20, 2012 at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Center Road, Bladenboro, NC. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.



Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home of Elizabethtown is assisting the family. Pallbearers will be Charles Johnson, Donald Johnson, Mickey Johnson, Derrick Johnson, Robert Cagle and Chris Johnson.
