Kenneth “Wayne” Dove, 77, of Tar Heel, passed away on Wednesday, May 01, 2024 at Elizabethtown Nursing Center in Elizabethtown, NC. He was born on July 17, 1946 to the late Clyde Albert Dove and Clara Cain Dove in Robeson County.
Wayne was also preceded by his wives: Lendra Dove and Judith Dove; sisters: Dianna Callihan and Melody Lennon. Wayne leaves behind his sons: Kevin Wayne Dove (Nicole) of White Oak, Jerry Lynn Dove and wife Bambi of Garland; brother, Al Dove, Jr. of Bladenboro and grandchildren: Jaelyn Dove, Dylan Dove and Ryan Dove.
Wayne loved his family and country where he joined the National Guard in 1965 and served for 10 years. He enjoyed woodworking and antique cars. So much so, he totally restored a 1956 Ford truck from the ground up. Wayne was very involved with the car shows around the neighboring counties. He was President of the Classic Cruisers Car Club/Show, was involved with the Peanut Festival Car Show in Dublin for 31 years and participated with the car show at San Josẽ for 19 years. He loved racing cars at the Dublin Motor Speedway and in Fayetteville. Wayne’s passionate spirit for life will forever be remembered by all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-3pm on Sunday, May 5th at Bethel Baptist Church in Dublin. A funeral service will follow at 3pm with the Reverend Warren Hill, Dr. Mack Roberts and Danny Lesane officiating the service. The burial will conclude services in the Allen Cemetery in Dublin.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Wayne Dove 8753 Hwy 87 West, Tar Heel, NC 28392.
