Laura “Frances” Perry Dawson, 91, of Clarkton went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2020 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Jay Dawson, sisters: Edith, Vera, Jean, Mertice, Billie and one brother, Junior. Frances leaves behind one daughter, Jean Burney (Fred) of Clarkton; son, Don Dawson (Debbie) of Wilmington; five grandchildren: Jay Burney, Mike Burney, Angie Burney, Chris Dawson, Beth Rowland, nine great grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren. She also leaves a very special caregiver, Ann Burney.
Frances was a God fearing, family loving, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and it showed in all the ministries she served in. It also showed in how she lived each day. Frances was pure at heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever needed. She had a love for children that was beyond measure. She lived each day serving and praising the Lord with a faith so strong. Her fight is over, and we know now she is at peace in heaven singing in that heavenly choir.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm on Friday, January 17, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Clarkton in the fellowship hall. A funeral service will be at 2 pm with Rev. Mark Miller and Rev. Richard Priest officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Bladenboro.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or The Shriners Hospital for Children.
