Leon Ray Braswell, 77, of Elizabethtown went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Healthcare in Wilmington. He was born in Warsaw, NC to the late Bradley Braswell and Bessie Turner Braswell. Leon leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Patricia Gray Braswell of the home, daughters Vanissa Wayne (Greg Collins) of Elizabethtown, Tempie Rae Lucas (Mike) of Clarksville, TN, two brothers, Tony Braswell (Jean) of Faison, Charles Braswell (Karen) of Topsail Beach, one sister Donnie Lanier of Warsaw, four grandchildren, Logan Wayne, Ian Lucas, Amanda Wayne Powers (Donald), and Tyler Gray Lucas, and one great granddaughter, Brooklyn, due in December. He was preceded in death by his brother Glenn Braswell.
Leon was a selfless, loving husband, father and “Poppi” who adored his family dearly. One could always find him either working in his shop, picking up pecans, or spending time with his wife and family. He continuously looked for ways to help others and would give you the shirt off his back. Leon was the epitome of what a great man should be and has left a legacy of devotion and care to all.
A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
