Leon Grimes

Leon "Sammy" Samuel Grimes, age 71 of Tar Heel, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife Janie B. Grimes of the home; two sons, Leon Grimes, Jr. of Tar Heel and Jeffrey Grimes of Concord; a daughter, Melissa Grimes-Gooden of Tar Heel; a brother, Thomas Grimes of Tar Heel; three sisters, Edna Atkinson of Clarkton, Carolyn Moree of Taylorsville, Louise Tedder of Elizabethtown; 4 grandchildren, Caitlin and Wisdom Grimes and Samantha Jane and Charlie Gooden; and several nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Grimes Cemetery officiated by Rev. Cameron McGill.
