Leon "Don" Mcduffie

Leon Donald “Don” McDuffie, 75, of Council, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arainous Wendell and Stella McDuffie; sister, Ellen Allen and brother, Bo McDuffie.

Don leaves behind his wife, Sherry McDuffie of the home; son, Leon D. McDuffie, Jr. (Sara) of Quinton, Virginia; six daughters: Linda Watson (Tom) of Wilmington, Donna Bowen of Delco, Donna Douglas (Rick Lowe) of Charles City, Virginia, Beth Traywick (Mark) of Marshville, Sally Blue (Keith) of Wilmington, Mandy Horne (Dusty) of Peachland; three brothers: Currie McDuffie of Wenatchee, Washington, Jack McDuffie (Doris) of Elizabethtown, Edward McDuffie of San Antonio, Texas ; two sisters: Judy Crain (Donald) of Missouri, Sylvia Bickell of Del City, Oklahoma and ten grandchildren.

Don was a loyal, kind and generous man who cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was always there to lend a helping hand to his family or to anyone in need. He would even stop and help a stranger on the side of the road. Don loved his country and retired from the United States Army. His gentle spirit will never be forgotten by those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, April 14th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Rev. Mae Craven officiating service.
