Leroy "Joe" Bennett

Leroy Joseph “Joe” Bennett, 67, of Bladenboro passed away on Friday, December 08, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Dalton Bennett; grandmother, Elnelta Edwards and brother, Freddie Bennett.

Joe is survived by his mother, Maria Bennett of Bladenboro; uncle, Ted Edwards; many relatives from Schmidham, Austria (where his mother is from); special friends: George Kern, Diana Snow, Debra and Donald Hahn, Jacky and Kay Little, Tim Page, Sara West, Harry Miller, Frank and Nyoka Willoughby, Sister Hazel Smith, Terry Sawyer, Vickie Britt, Val Skiadiotis, Eleni Mirtsopoulos, Ammar Alnaggar, Leighanne & Jacob Bernicki, Elena West, Mike Mendez, Angela Floyd, Omar and many more.

Joe served in the United States Air Force for 21 years operating as a mechanics crew chief. He repaired planes and enjoyed what he did with them. He loved his mother, Maria, with all his heart but loved the Lord even more. He was a man who always carried a Bible with him in his fanny pack and would pray with and for anyone no matter the circumstance. Joe would always see the very best in people and had a way about him that would light up a room. He enjoyed tending to all of his animals, fishing with Frank Willoughby, and his garden, especially the okra. Joe’s infectious personality will be forever missed by all who loved him dearly.

The family will receive friends from 2-2:45pm on Wednesday, December 13^th at Bethel Holiness Church with a funeral service following at 3pm. The Reverend Aaron Leonard will officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Bladen Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Elizabethtown.
