Loree Austin Long, 84, of Bladenboro passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center in Whiteville. Loree grew up in Ladoga, Indiana and lived there most of his life, where he taught high school math and farmed. He and his wife of 63 years moved to Bladenboro in December, 2009 to be near their daughter and her family. He was an Army Veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Audrey Glover Long and one brother, Lawrence.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Pitzer Long of Bladenboro; one son, Kurtis Long and wife Brenda of Greenville, Ohio; one daughter, Kristina Yarborough and husband Graham of Bladenboro; three brothers, Allen Long of Michigan, Thomas Long of Ladoga, Ind. and Dale Long of Colorado; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 5, 2014 from 7:00 until 9:00 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 11:00 am at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Vanderpoole and Bro. Gary Pollard officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery in Bladenboro.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation or the Lower Cape Fear Hospice Center, 206 Warrior Trail Dr., Whiteville, NC 28472.
