Lucille Strickland

Lucille Ward Strickland, age 86, went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2013, while surrounded by family and friends in her home. Born on December 28, 1926, she was a hard working, strong-willed woman, who loved the Lord, her family, and the land. She especially loved working in her yard and flower beds. She was dedicated to her family, church and friends. A comfort to others, she never gave up, and was always full of wisdom and sound advice for her beloved grandchildren.
Survivors include her four children, Sue Strickland Pigott and husband Bob, Dennis Gordon Strickland II and wife Janice, Jill Strickland Collins and husband Randall, and Michael Delmas Strickland and wife Janice', along with 1 sister Nancy Loethan, 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Mrs. Strickland was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis Gordon Strickland I, her sister Estolyn Arthur; brothers J.C. Ward and Earl Faulk; and one grandson James Bryan Collins.
Funeral services will be held at Bluefield United Methodist Church(NC-1712/Lisbon Road Clarkton, NC,) on August 31, 2013, at 11:00 am, with Reverends Neil Smith and Shannon Ross officiating. Burial will be graveside at the church. Visitation will be at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, NC, on Friday, August 30, 2013 from 7 - 9 pm. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
