Luther “Man” Ray Berry, 73, Veteran of the U.S. Air Force went to his eternal home on February 14, 2021. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther Russell Berry and Viola Lewis Berry, his loving wife Wanda Jean Godwin Berry, one brother, Donald Berry, and one niece Carmen Suzette Todd Hackworth. Left to cherish his memory are daughter Carla Michelle Berry of Greensboro; son Joey Russell Berry (Michelle) of Chadbourn; one sister Janice Faye Berry of Calabash; one brother James Berry (Debbie) of Bladenboro; three grandchildren: Brittany Michelle Wrenn, Anthony Jordan Wrenn, and Raegan Aubrey McNabb, three  nieces, Jana Ann, Vicki and Kim; three  nephews, Chris, Josh and Sean; six great nieces and three great nephews.

Luther was the first surviving son to his parents. His dad, thrilled to have a son of his own, gave him the name “Little Man” and upon growing up, the name still stuck as “Man”.  He was a graduate of Bladenboro High School and went on to attend college in Pembroke, Fayetteville, and Greensboro, NC. In 1984, he established his own company Southern Boiler Sales and Service. It was often said that Man had the “Midas Touch” because everything he put his hands to became a success.

In 2006, he retired and traveled worldwide with his loving wife Wanda by his side. His lifelong goal was to become a beach bum which he did the last 15 years of his life. Man was the most loving, God fearing husband, father, and grandfather. He always kept candy in his pocket to hand out to not only his own grandkids but to every child he met. He loved to instill the story of Santa as well as the Easter Bunny, just to see the smiles on the kids faces. His legacy of love, faith, commitment, and success have been instilled in the hearts and minds of all that knew and loved him.

Due to the COVID 19 epidemic, a small burial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Lewis Cemetery in Bladenboro.
