Margaret Beard

Margaret E. Beard, 89, of Elizabethtown passed away Friday, May 31, 2013. She is preceded in death by her parents Joel and Frances Elkins, husband Marshall Madison Beard, one son Jerry Michael Beard Sr., two brothers: J.B. Elkins Jr., and Dewey Elkins, and two sisters: Betty Jewel Elkins and Dorothy Jean Elkins. She is survived by one son Scott Beard and wife June, three sisters: Sarah Eden and husband Larry of Wilmington, Barbara Sue Stewart of Lumberton, and Mary Hazel Robbins of Lisbon, five grandchildren: J. Michael Beard Jr. and wife Toni of Hilton Head, SC; Jeffrey Beard and wife Linda of Elizabethtown, Kenneth Wayne Beard of Elizabethtown, Shannon B. Tatum and husband Gene of Elizabethtown, and Veronica Michelle Beard of Lumberton, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Ms. Margaret was an active member of Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church and a member of Bladen Springs Extension Club. She loved her family dearly and her passions were reading, hummingbirds, and the beach. She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 2, 2013 from 6-8 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Monday, June 3, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home. There will be a private burial after service.
