Margaret Suggs Melvin, 88, of Fayetteville went to her eternal home on Monday, July 19, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Lloyd Suggs and Lena McMillian Suggs, her husband Earl Franklin Melvin, one son Christopher Melvin two brothers Dewey Suggs, David Suggs, one sister Joan Hulon and three brothers-in-law Sherwood Hulon, Gene Heath, and Leon Owen. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Constance Ann Melvin of Elizabethtown, three sisters, Ruth Owen of Fayetteville, Marilyn Heath of Fayetteville, and Carol Atkins of Mt. Olive and her beloved fur baby Newbie.
Margaret was a wonderful, loving lady who cherished her daughter, family, and friends. She always met you with a smile and went the extra mile. She served as a Bladen County dispatcher for many years and worked with the N. C. Forest Service. She enjoyed her work so much that she climbed the fire tower her first day on the job. Margaret will be remembered for always telling it like it was and her grand sense of humor.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 1:30 pm on Sunday, July 25th at Bladen Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with funeral service following immediately in the Chapel. Services will conclude in the Marshburn Cemetery off of 701 North in White Lake. Rev. Al Marshburn will officiate the service. All attendees are asked to practice social distancing and wear a mask if not fully vaccinated.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the White Lake Baptist Church.
