Marie Speight Norton

Marie Speight Norton, 77, of Bladenboro passed away on Thursday, April 4, 2024, while at Lower Cape Fear Life Care Center in Whiteville, NC. She was preceded in death by her parents, Barnice Speight and Anease Britt Speight.

Marie is survived by her beloved husband, Gene Norton of the home, daughters, Teresa N. Edwards (David) of Bladenboro, Jodie N. Hardee of Ocean Isle, brother Thomas Speight (Connie) of Butters, two sisters, Lorraine Childers (Tex) of Butters and Linda Sue Morrell (Johnny) of Fayetteville, her dear fur babies, Oscar and Hot Rod, several nieces, nephews and grand fur babies.

Marie was a loving sister, aunt, wife, and mother who cherished her family and always put them first. She loved her church and church family at West Bladenboro Baptist Church. As an avid cruiser, Marie had taken around 15 cruises with her girls and other family members all around the globe. When not traveling, she enjoyed watching her hummingbird feeders and spending time with family, friends and her beloved fur babies. Marie will always be remembered for her generous heart, her love of talking, and her ability to never meet a stranger anywhere.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 11:00 am to 12:45 pm at the West Bladenboro Baptist Church in Bladenboro followed by a funeral service at 1:00 pm. The Reverend David Anderson and the Reverend Rusty Rogers will officiate the service. A burial will follow in the Speight Cemetery in Allenton
