Martha Sauvinet

Martha Dickens Sauvinet, age 85 of Elizabethtown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 2, 2016. She was a devoted Christian, mother, and wife. She loved visiting nursing homes where she loved singing and talking about her Savior. She worked several jobs, but the most important to her was being a homemaker. She was a graduate of White Oak School.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Dickens, Sr. and Glennie Louise Downing Dickens; two brothers, Ernest and Robert Dickens; a sister, Helen Dickens and a grandson, Paul Thomas Sauvinet. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Joseph Thomas Sauvinet, Sr. of the home; a son, Joseph "Tommy" Thomas Sauvinet, Jr. and wife Gayle of Wilmington; daughter, Cheryl Ann Vieregge and husband Lee of Wilmington; a brother, John Wesley Dickens, Jr. of Cary; a sister, Margie Barnes Edwards of Elizabethtown; 3 grandchildren, Michele Surratt, Sonia Kennedy and Traci McDowell; and 4 great grandchildren, Joseph, Noah, Mackenzie and Rachel.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 from 11:00 to 12:00 noon at Briar Branch Baptist Church, 42 Lula Long Road, Elizabethtown, NC. The funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon at Briar Branch officiated by Rev. Arnold Griffin. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
