Mary Adams

Mary Audrey Adams, age 83 of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2017, after several years of declining health. Ms. Adams was preceded in death by her parents William Wyatt Adams and Ruth Johnson Adams, as well as her brothers Adrian Adams and Roy Adams.

She was born and raised on her family's farm outside of Elizabethtown, and was a lifelong member of Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for over forty years. The church and particularly the choir brought her great joy and a lifetime of happy memories.

She spent many years working in the business office of Bladen County Hospital, then later worked with North Carolina Petroleum Marketers Association in Raleigh. During her retirement, she helped run her son's architectural office, and worked with her niece and nephew in their drugstores in Wake County.

A memorial service will be held at Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church, at 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 29, 2017, with a visitation at the church immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wesley's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Ms. Adams was quietly devoted to her faith in God, as well as to her son, family, and friends. She is survived by her son Christopher G. Adams of Elizabethtown, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. She was smart, modest, strong, and very brave. She was dearly loved, and will be missed.
