Mary Smith

Fran Smith, 64, of 112 West Oliver Street, Whiteville, NC died Monday, October 29, 2012 at her home in Whiteville, NC. Born in Whiteville, NC, she was the beloved wife of Richard Kenneth Smith of forty-one years. She retired from Whiteville City Schools after a long career of dedicated service. She brought peace and comfort to everyone she touched. Fran was a model of hospitality and grace, caring for those around her.

In addition to her husband, Fran is survived by two sons, Todd M. Smith of Elizabeth City, NC and Dr. Mason Fuller Smith and wife Kimberly of Germany; two grandsons, Wilson and Wesley Smith; three sisters, Martha Holt and husband George, Jean Boswell and Dale Cauldwell; a brother-in-law, Eugene McKenzie Smith, Jr. and special friend Marian Williams; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelbert Thurmon Todd and Eula Mae Mason Todd and her son, Richard Kenneth Smith, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Bladenboro, NC on Sunday, November 4th at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends immediately after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Pine Crest Cemetery Inc. c/o Billy Ray Fisher, PO Box 385, Bladenboro, NC 28320
