Mary Starnes

Mary Packer Starnes, of 45 Hester Street, Clarkton, died Saturday, October 7, 2006 at his residence. She was 83.



The visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2006 at Bladen Funeral Home. The funeral will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 10, at Bladen Funeral Home with Rev. David Rutland and Rev. Anthony Hardin officiating. Burial will follow in Brown Marsh Church Cemetery, Clarkton.



Born August 26, 1923, in Bladen County, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. and Vera Williams Packer.



She is predeceased by her husband, Joe Starnes; son, J.P. Starnes; sister, Hattie Baysden; and two brothers, Thurman and James Packer.



Ms. Starnes is survived by four sons, Richard Starnes and wife Jane, Reese Starnes and wife Carol, and Stevie Starnes, all of Clarkton, NC, and Robert Starnes and wife Shawn of Whiteville; four daughters, Peggy Butler and husband Everette of Bladenboro, Rosa Atkins and husband Jack, Norma McCall and husband James Lloyd "Buck Shot", and Sue Coleman and husband Dalton, all of Clarkton; a brother, Haywood Packer of Clarkton; two sisters, Hazel Hood of Clarkton, and Eva Mae Price of Bladenboro; eighteen grandchildren and twenty five great grandchildren.
