Mary Hodge Strickland

Mary Frances Hodge Strickland, 87, of Ammon passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at home surrounded by family.

 She was proceeded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mary Hodge Merritt, her husband Horace Strickland, brothers Junior Merritt, Jack Merritt, and Larry Merritt, and one sister, Sue Hudson. Survivors include daughters, Sheila Dowless of Bladenboro, Deborah Williams (Rodney) of Ammon, one brother Danny Merritt of Fayetteville, two sisters Donnie Pendergraft of Elizabethtown, and Dorothy Tatum (Bennett) of Ammon, four grandchildren Samantha Westbrooke, Austin Williams, Keana Dowless, and Hunter Williams, and five great grandchildren Kaydence Westbrooke, Madison Westbrooke, Brantley Faircloth, Bayleigh Faircloth, and Riverlyn Williams and one special nephew Robbie Pendergraft.

 Mary was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to have family gatherings. She enjoyed her flowers, especially yellow roses, fishing, cooking and trips to the mountains. Her legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of all that love her dearly.

 The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 3-4 pm at the Briar Branch Baptist Church in Elizabethtown followed by a funeral service at 4 pm with the Reverend Carlton Bryan officiating. Burial will follow the services in the church cemetery.
