Mayzel Milligan

January 8, 1929 — January 11, 2019

Mayzel Hill Ward Milligan, 90, of Bladenboro passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents: Luther and Anna Hill and three brothers: Elman Robinson, Harold Hill and Tommy Hill. Mayzel is survived by her three sons: Donald Lee Hill of Bladenboro, Lawrence "Porky" Ward of Whiteville; Bobby Dale Ward of Bladenboro; one daughter: Glenda Faye Bartley of Evergreen; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Mayzel was the descendant of the second President of the United States, John Adams. She loved to cook and could whip up some grits and eggs in no time. She treasured her family and only her great grandkids called her Grandma Daisy. She would keep all the grandkids at one time and would make pallets on the floor. Mayzel enjoyed to sew, fish and couldn't live without her snuff. She was a tough and stubborn lady. Towards the end of her stay at home, she kept a machete under her couch. She will be greatly missed.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm on Sunday, January 13th at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, January 14th at New Center Baptist Church of Bladenboro officiated by Rev. Barry Helms. Burial will follow the services in the Meadows Cemetery.
