Merrold Mccall

Merrold Hamilton McCall, age 84 of Elizabethtown, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.

He was born May 10, 1937 to the late Edwin and Edna Wilson McCall.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Michael Cordell McCall: one brother, Herman Wilson, one sister Roslyn McCall Phillips and one son-in-law, Timothy Thomas.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Adcox McCall of the home; two daughters, Marcia Bustos (Rick) of Hope Mills, Debbie Thomas of Elizabethtown; three grandsons, Jason (JT) Thomas (Jessie), Brandon Merritt and Evan Bustos; one granddaughter Rylee Usher; two brothers: E.R. McCall, Jr of Swansea, SC, and Wayne McCall of Maury; three sisters Naamah (June) Walker (Billy) of Whiteville, Elizabeth (Lib) Smith of Dunn, and Emily Roberson (Tom) of Elizabethtown; one sister-in-law, Lois Lowery (Max) of Morganton and a host of nieces and nephews..

Merrold was a retired veteran of the US Army and retired as manager from A&P Grocery Store after 39 years.  After retirement he enjoyed gardening on his farm in Cumberland County, gathering and selling his produce.  Most of the time he gave away more than he sold.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and church family.  He was the epitome of a true Southern gentleman—humble, kind, loving and very soft spoken.  There has never been a greater man!

Visitation will be Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 2:00 pm Bluefield United Methodist Church, 8967 Lisbon Road, Clarkton, NC followed by the service at 3:00pm..  Burial will follow at McCall Family Cemetery.
