Michael Thaggard

Michael “Mike” Trent Thaggard Jr., 53, of Durham went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at home surrounded by his family and friends.

Mike was born November 9, 1968, in White Oak, NC to the late Michael Trent Thaggard Sr. and Gail Suggs Thaggard. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Brode and Lula Thaggard and Benny and Norma Suggs.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Tammy Layton Thaggard; sons, Michael Trent Thaggard III and Cameron Talmage Thaggard; brother, Johnathan E. Thaggard Sr.; sister, Jill Thaggard Best (Kevin); and nephews Johnathan E. Thaggard Jr. and Dustin J. Thaggard. Also surviving are his in-laws, Talmage and Sandra Layton, Ron and Tracy Garrett, and their children Kristan, Anna, and Thomas, and many special friends.

Mike was a graduate of North Carolina State University. He and his wife, Tammy, owned and operated Thaggard Insurance Services from May 2000 – December 2019. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, cycling, sailing, and camping.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, especially Dr. Katherine Peters, Dr. John Kirkpatrick, and Dr. Allan Friedman.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Hudson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Bethesda Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan Barbee and Pastor Kevin Greggs officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Suggs Family Cemetery in White Oak, NC.
