Mildred Hilburn

Mildred Storms Hilburn, 85 of Bladenboro, NC entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 15, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband Curtis Hilburn; father and mother Woodie V. and Laura Dell Gooden Storms; a daughter Connie Hilburn Carroll and husband Jerry Carroll; brothers Roger Lane, Harry Wade, and Weldon Storms; sisters Brenda Joyce and Janette Storms, a stepson Dewey Alan Hilburn, mother and father-in-law, Alice Evans Hilburn and Durham Hilburn, sister-in-law Selma Lee West and husband Archie. She is survived by a daughter Patricia "Trigger" McKeithan and husband Larry "Bo" McKeithan, a stepson Ronnie Hilburn and wife Joyce, grandchildren Jamie Carroll, Wendi Allen and husband Nathan, Jeremy Hilburn and wife Sheila, Jill Pokoj and husband Thomas; great grandchildren Clint, Clay, and Cade Allen, Haley Hilburn, and Ally Pokoj; brothers Howard Storms, Eugene Storms and wife Ann of Bladenboro; sisters Sara West of Bladenboro, Annette Grimes and husband Jack of Tar Heel, Nancy Buchanan of Sunset Beach, Patsy Green and husband Robert of Centreville, Virginia and Linda Rising and husband Frankie of Bladenboro and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred, the oldest of 13 children, was born on September 25, 1927. She was employed many years by the Bladenboro Cotton Mills, Jones Dime Store, and Adcox Appliance Store. She was known as a hard worker and spent many summers working in tobacco and peanuts. She also enjoyed growing vegetables and working in her flower gardens. She was one of the earliest members of Grace Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for over 46 years. She held many other positions such as Sunday School teacher, Treasurer, VBS worker, Deaconess, and WMU member. She received perfect attendance pins at church for over 40 years. She will be remembered for her loyalty, thoughtfulness, and generosity to others.The family will be meeting at the home of Jamie Carroll, 901 N Main St.Bladenboro.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 17, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Arthur Smith and Rev. Bruce Cannon officiating. Burial will follow at Galeed Baptist Church Cemetery.
