Mildred Mcculloch

Mildred Priest McCulloch, 94, of Elizabethtown died peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 5th, 2016. Mildred was born in Bladen County on February 7, 1922, the daughter of the late Lee G. Priest (former sheriff of Bladen County) and Clara McCall Priest. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers Russell Priest, Sr., Bill Priest, Kenneth "Chick" Priest, Jay Priest, and her sister Grace Coleman. She is survived by her husband Carl McCulloch of Elizabethtown, her sister Hilda Priest Sullivan of Frederick, Maryland and her sisters-in-law Elizabeth Priest of Council, Betsy Langley of Winston Salem, and Margaret McCulloch of Dallas, NC. Other loved ones left to cherish her life are her nephews Russell Priest (Doll), Charlie Priest (Tracie), Kenneth Coleman (Catherine), John Wilton Priest (Anita), Joe Priest, David Priest (Karen), Stephen Poirier, and nieces Barbara Williams, Cathy Casas and Cheryl Poirier.

Mildred McCulloch graduated from Elizabethtown High School. She was assistant Register of Deeds in Bladen County for 39 years. She was a member of the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church, where she taught children Sunday school classes and was active in other spiritual functions of the church. She was also a member of the Pittman Bible Class for many years. She was a former member of the Garden Club. When cooking a meal for Carl and herself she always cooked extra to put in the freezer to share with others on different occasions. After retirement she spent time assisting Carl in his volunteer projects.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 8, 2016 at 3:00 at the Elizabethtown Presbyterian Church with Dr. Chris Denny and Rev. David Holloway officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives prior to the service from 2:00-2:45 in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will follow in the Elizabethtown City Cemetery.
