Minnie Ivey

December 18, 1921 — September 30, 2009

Mrs. Minnie Bordeaux Ivey, 87, of 3235 Owen Hill Road, Elizabethtown, NC, departed this life on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Southeastern Hospice House.



Mrs. Ivey was born December 18, 1921 in Bladen County, the daughter of the late Bishop and Emma Devane Bordeaux. She was preceded in death by her husband Darius Ivey; a sister, Nannie Nance; three brothers, Marshall, James and Eugene Bordeaux, and a special son-in-law, David Smith.



Mrs. Ivey was employed by Peanut Processers of Dublin, NC for over forty years. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.



She is survived by three daughters, Nancy Smith of Climax, NC, Bonnie Ivey of Elizabethtown and Sally and husband Thomas Milczakowski of Elizabethtown; three sons, David Ivey of Elizabethtown, Jerry Ivey and wife Sue of Carthage, NC and Alfred Ivey and wife Judy of Madison, NC; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Mataghedi and husband Eazadyar of Greensboro, Freddie Smith and wife Wanda of Climax, NC, Sharon Farmer of Madison, NC, Crystal Owen and husband Joey of Eden, NC and Amber and Hayley Milczakowski of Elizabethtown. Additionally, Mrs. Ivey is survived by eight great-grandchildren, Darius and wife Anna, Ethan, Ashley, Adam, Angel, Derrick, Justin and Kirkland. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.



A celebration of life service will be held at Bethel Baptist Church in Dublin, NC Friday, October 2, 2009 at 2:00 pm the with the Rev. Warren Hill and Rev. Phillip McLean officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 1:45 pm in the church fellowship hall. Burial will follow the service at the Tatum-Grimes Cemetery in Tar Heel, NC on Owen Hill Road.



The family wishes to express their appreciation to Wesley Pines Nursing Services and Southeastern Hospice House for the care and concern given to their mother.
