Mitchell Hester

Mitchell Hester, 69, of Elizabethtown passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2016. He is preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Olive Hester. Survivors include: wife, Melba Grey Hester of the home; son, Matt Hester and wife Sharon of Bladenboro; stepson, Gene Burney and wife Rhonda of Ellijay, GA; sister, Mona Dean Clark of Elizabethtown; adopted family, James and Brenda Hales of Elizabethtown; grandchildren: Alicia, Savanah and Holly; step-grandchildren: Justin, Brittany, Andrew, Jared and Olivia and two step great grandchildren, Jaxx and Jaycee.
Mr. Hester loved his family dearly and never met a stranger. He loved fishing, hunting, his german shepherd, Dan and his church. Mr. Hester retired from DuPont in 1992, worked for Bladen County Schools, Dublin Fire Dept., and Bladen County EMS. He was also a coach for softball and little league.
Family will receive friends Thursday, May 5, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Funeral service will be Friday, May 6, 2016 at 2 pm at Dublin First Baptist Church in Dublin, NC. Rev. Cameron McGill will be officiating. Burial will follow the service at New Pait cemetery in Bladenboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Dublin First Baptist Church Building Fund.
