Monnie Lee Cox Edwards, age 92, of Bladenboro passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 while at Lower Cape Fear Lifecare in Whiteville.
She was born June 30, 1930 in Bladen County to the late Troy Cox and Mary Singletary Cox.
She was preceded by her parents, her husband Harry Dewey Edwards, three brothers, Eddie Cox, Allen Cox and Lonnie Cox, and three sisters Lulu Mae Edwards, Margaret Packer and Annie Belle Kinlaw. Monnie is survived by her daughter, Mona Lynne Mayes (Rabon) of Fort Mill, SC, one granddaughter, Victoria Casasola (Sebastian) of Greensboro, NC, and several nieces and nephews.
Monnie was a member of the West Bladenboro Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, Assistant Youth Director, piano player and choir member.She cherished her family and her church. Monnie loved to cook, sew, and watch old westerns on tv. She was most happy when folks stopped by to visit. Her genuine love of others and of the Lord was apparent in all that she did. She will certainly be missed here.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at West Bladenboro Baptist Church in Bladenboro followed by a funeral service at 3:00 pm with the Reverend David Anderson officiating. Burial will follow the services in the Cashwell Cemetery in Bladenboro.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Steve and Mary Cox, 109 Sandidge Drive, Bladenboro, NC 28320.
Flowers are appreciated, however, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to West Bladenboro Baptist Church, 703 Village Street, Bladenboro, NC 28320.
