Myrle Mcfarland

Myrle G. "Mac" McFarland of Red Springs passed away Friday, April 4, at age 75. He was born in High Point NC on October 30, 1938 to John A. and Annie Evans McFarland. He served in the Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in California. After discharge, he entered the management training program at Security First National Bank. He spent 30 years working in banking as a manager and auditor. After retiring he and his wife, Sharon, relocated to his home state of North Carolina where he was an active member of the Red Springs Rotary Club for many years and served as an Elder for the Red Springs Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Sharon, daughter Kimberly (John) Ammons, son Brian (Kim) Vesely, and 8 grandchildren, Trevour & Justin Huber, Phillip Evan & Jack McFarland Ammons, and Douglas, Maggie, Charlotte Anne and Griffin Vesely. Preceded in death by brother J.A. (Dottie) McFarland. Survived by brother James (Barbara), and sister Elsie McFarland, nephew David McFarland and great-nieces Heather (Anthony) Mowad and Holly McFarland. A graveside service, officiated by The Rev. Drs. George and Beverly Thompson, will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the Alloway cemetery in Red Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Red Springs Presbyterian Church, 115 N Vance St, Red Springs, NC 28377. Services arranged by Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, NC and Boles Funeral Home in Red Springs, NC.
