Myrtle Lockamy

March 24, 1922 — July 13, 2015

Mrs. Myrtle D. Lockamy, 93, of Bladenboro passed away on Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Southeastern Hospice House in Lumberton. She was the 10th born and only survivor of the 11 children born to the late Annie Singletary Davis and I. Wright Davis. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Howard T. Lamb and Reverend E. P. Lockamy, and three of her step-children: Edward Lockamy, Mae Lockamy Shaw, and Willis Lockamy. She is survived by her son Howard Lamb and wife Marilyn of Memphis, TN; her son Gary Lamb of Bladenboro; her son J. Glenn Lamb and wife Barbara of Durham; her daughter Bernetta Lamb McKeithan and husband Eric of Wilmington; her daughter Susan Lamb Pendergraft and husband Tom of Dobson; her grandchildren Travis Lamb, Tosca Smith, Kristin McKeithan Richards, Kori Brett McKeithan, Justin McKeithan, Tyler McKeithan, Thomas Pendergraft and Austin Pendergraft. Also surviving are two of her step-children and their spouses: Judy Lockamy Ryan and husband David of Greensboro, and Eugene Lockamy and wife Mitzi of Bladenboro, and several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

Myrtle was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was the center of her existence, and had her unconditional love. She was an active and faithful member of Bladenboro First Baptist Church for more than 40 years. Her gentleness, compassion, smile and capacity to make everyone feel comfortable and welcomed endeared her to her family and her many friends.

The family will receive friends at the First Baptist Church in Bladenboro on Wednesday, July 15 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., with the funeral service following at 11:00 am, officiated by Dr. Burt Young. Interment will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 500 S. Main Street, Bladenboro, NC 28320, Southeastern Hospice House, 1100 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton, NC 28358 or the Bladen County Division on Aging in Elizabethtown, 608 McLeod Street, Elizabethtown, NC 28337.
