On October 15, 1932 in the city of Durham, North Carolina, George and Maggie Malloy brought into the world their last child of three, and on Sunday, December 22, 2013 Jesus called His daughter, Naomia Malloy Harrington, of Bladenboro, NC to join Him in Heaven.
Naomia received her education in the Durham County Public School System, graduating from Hillside High School. After graduating, she completed her studies at North Carolina Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and became a License Practical Nurse (LPN). After working as a medical secretary, Noamia relocated to Bridgeport, CT where she was to work as an assembler at Sikorsky Aircraft until she retired and return to North Carolina where she was a faithful member of Bryant Swamp Missionary Baptist Church.
Naomia birthed five beautiful girls - Deborah, Katrina, Janise, Celia and Elsie - and one son - Keith. In 1982, Noamia was wedded to Festus "Pig" Harrington, who she would love and live out the rest of her days with here on earth until his heavenly departure on November 20, 2009.
If you knew this gem of a woman, you know that she had the biggest heart any one person could have. She may not have had much money, but she always found a way to feed and house anyone who needed a hot meal and a place lay their head, and was "Aunt Naomia", "Grandma" and "Mama" to everyone…including those who were of no birth relation.
Naomia leaves to cherish her memories her step-mother: Barbara Malloy; her sister: Barbara Burks (John); two brothers: Willie Gray and Clarence Brown; one sister-in-law: Torche Bumpers; five daughters Deborah Tatum of Washington, DC, Janise Gray of Naugatuck, CT, Celia Gray of Hampton, VA and Elsie Washington (Scomiller) of Bladenboro, NC; one daughter-in-law: Karen Washington; one special daughter: Pamela Rasor; three step-daughters: Alicia Justice, Diane Kearney and Myrna O. Harrington; two step-sons: Rickey and Ronald Harrington; twenty grandchildren: Tynetta, Ahmed (Natasha) and Rashid (Valencea) Ali, Kayla Lee, Jasmine (Sidney) and Javiar Washington, Noah Hall, Janice (Marvin) Pendergrass, Patrick (Rebecca) and Keith Cates, Jakrya Washington, Horace, Jr., Mark and Kevin Duncan, Jerome (Candice), Michael and Jerri Kearney, LeVonn, Lawrence and Nicole Harrington; forty plus great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and loved ones.
